YES! Writing is the best! Especially because I always have something to say about almost any subject. I have always been able to express my opinions better on paper. Writing is definately the most essential way of expression, and communication.
Before writing there were no other ways to keep a track of what had happened in the past (History). Unless you count word-of-mouth of course. However somewhere between passing it on for so long the story wears down so thinly that almost none of the remaining words were genuine, or true to the origin. So when the written language was formed, that is when true history began. Writing competes with the agricultural revolution (only because cities/groups of hunter/gatheres were buitlt around fertile lands for farming thus making an actual society) as being the single most important thing to turn a human existence into a human society. Even then the laws that governed the people of the society would have to be written.
Bottom Line: Without writing there is no History, without History there is no knowledge of past mistakes, the lack of knowledge of mistakes can only lead to more mistakes, and human society cannot afford any more mistakes.
